New Commercial Construction Guides

The first step in any New Commercial Construction is to Contact Us.

Be Prepared to Provide:

  1. A building plan and location of the property.
  2. All permits/requirements from the Municipality/Township.

On-site Visit Scheduled:

  1. An on-site visit with a Field Engineer will be scheduled. The member, or contractor, must be at this meeting.

New Member Requirements:

  1. All new members are subject to identify verification and credit risk assessment, and will be asked to provide their address, social security number, and date of birth.
    A consumer deposit may be required before the service is energized.

During the on-site visit, the Field Engineer will define options to extend the electric service, and will determine the cost of building the service based on current charges.

The following forms will be to be completed, signed, and returned to the Engineering Department at Oakdale Electric Cooperative.

  1. Membership Application
  2. Line Extension Policy: Single Phase, Three Phase (small), Three Phase (large)
  3. Easement: Provide the legal description of the site with a copy of Warranty Deed or certified survey map. The property owners must sign and have their signatures notarized.
  4. Per Municipality: Submit a Uniform Dwelling Code (UDC) Wiring Certificate, which the inspector will provide OR submit a notarized affidavit.
  1. Meter Applications/Requirements
  2. CT Cabinet Specs: Member must furnish all lugs.
  3. Transformer Pad Specs: 75 kVA and higher, member supplies the pad.
  4. Service must be wired per National Electric Code.
  5. Notify Oakdale Electric Cooperative when socket is ready. Ensure cable route is clear of all obstructions.
  6. All forms and fees must be received at Oakdale Electric Cooperative.
  7. Digger's Hotline will be contacted by the party responsible for digging.
  8. Any underground facilities must be marked and/or exposed.
  9. If applicable, the member must contact the telephone company to initiate their phone service. Oakdale Electric Cooperative will also contact to coordinate joint burial.

Actual completion time will vary as it is dependent on work load, complexity of the service installation, and weather.

Services charges will begin when the meter is set and energized.
